Strategic Account Executive - Japan
Job Summary
Our client is a large multinational clinical laboratory services company. They are currently seeking a Strategic Account Executive to help develop business in Japan. This position reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing in the US. The Account Executive will increase sales and optimize profitability of the company’s central laboratory and other innovative services, working in conjunction with international counterparts to sell and service global accounts. Candidates can be based in Tokyo or Osaka.
Job Responsibilities
- Key responsibility for management of specific customer accounts in Japan
- Expand sales to current clients and develop prospective clients
- Pursue and manage clinical drug trial accounts on a national and/or international level
- Focus sales efforts on clients most likely to utilize central lab services. Develop client relationships and implement account penetration strategies
- Utilize consultative selling skills to develop and solidify long-term client relationships with key decision maker
- Assist in the development of marketing strategies for this highly specialized, high-potential market
- Manage and co-ordinate all Japanese activity relating to global accounts with the appropriate personnel worldwide
- Acquire and exchange information on sales strategy and competitive activity through close communication with global operations team
- Acquire and exchange information on sponsor and investigator needs through close communication with global operations teams
- Prepare, co-ordinate and deliver presentations to clients stressing the company’s unique worldwide services for clinical trials testing
- Oversee the resolution of inquiries, problems and concerns arising out of the clinical trial which could adversely affect the result of the study or the relationship with the client
- Act as a technical advisor/consultant for existing and prospective clients (e.g. clinical/medical personnel, IR personnel, contracts and legal personnel, etc.) to secure profitable central laboratory contracts
- Prepare and present proposals to existing and prospective clients relative to the protocols submitted
- Prepare sales reports, business plans and presentations as directed by clinical trials sales management
Key Requirements
- Minimum: Bachelors degree in Business or Science
- 3-4 years demonstrated sales success in a healthcare-related field and understanding of clinical R&D process
- Strong communications skills - oral and written. Fluent in Japanese and English.
- Ability to develop relationships, negotiate and close business
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to understand and represent a service-driven business
- Science / medical background considered to be advantageous
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks. High energy levels essential.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Japan / Far East on a regular basis.
